We know you’ve been wondering what’s up with Fantastical and iOS 7, so we wanted to share our plans and let you know what’s going on.
On the compatibility front, Fantastical 1.1.5 is now available with fixes for iOS 7. We’ve discovered a couple of other issues, so we’ll be submitting another update that we hope will be available soon.
But what you’re really wondering about is an update to Fantastical that truly reflects what iOS 7 is about, right? First, we need to go back to earlier this year. After the dust settled from Fantastical 1.0 and the major 1.1 update afterwards, we got right to work on Fantastical for iPad. That’s right, iPad. Keep reading. 😊
Of course, iOS 7 came along and forced us to adjust our plans. After a few minutes with iOS 7 we knew we had to go back to the iPhone and take Fantastical to the next level. With many new features and a brand-new design, we’re incredibly excited to announce that Fantastical 2 for iPhone is almost done and will be available in October!
Fantastical 2 for iPhone will have many of your most-requested features including reminders, an even better parsing engine, event and reminder notifications, landscape mode, TextExpander support, and much more. Fantastical 2 for iPhone will be a brand new app available as a separate purchase, and only for iOS 7. We’d also like to make it clear that this is not a simple update, as we’ve spent a lot of time to ensure that we’re bringing more than just a modernized interface to Fantastical 2.
As for the iPad — while we normally don’t announce products in advance — we’d like to reassure everyone that the iPad version is still coming. It will also be a separate app, available for iOS 7 only. We hope you’ll find it worth the wait.
Finally, we wanted to send our heartfelt thanks for your support and feedback over the past couple of years. It means a lot to us and we hope you see the care, love, and thought we put into Fantastical 2. Stay tuned!
